Phase 1 :

------------------------------

Doñana the world’s first virtual Biosphere Reserve

Parques Virtuales SL (registerd in Spain) is currently working with Doñana National Park in southwest Spain and the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian regional government) to create the world’s first interactive virtual biosphere park.

At the same time the Virtual Biosphere Park will draw worldwide public attention to the threats that endanger the sustainability of the Doñana protected space, engaging an international ’Doñana Without Frontiers’ community in the Park’s defence.

Phase 2 :

------------------------------

South Down National Park

Building a virtual park for UK's youngest and largest biosphere and national park. Here the large urban expanse of Brighton and Hove must integrate and share the ancient landscape of the South Downs.  The natural resources of the park must be balanced with the complex needs of those who live, work and visit the park. Like many protected and managed areas of the landscape waterways form contested resource. At South Downs waterways form a starting point for the development of a Virtual Park.

Phase 3 :

------------------------------

Protecting the Flyways and Wetlands of the world

The world’s great flyways, along which hundreds of species of spell-bindingly beautiful birds have migrated for millions of years, are today under severe threat from civilisation world-wide. Much of the damage is due to the loss of their wetland feeding and breeding stations - Doñana National Park is just one of these staging posts.

Wetlands are vital to the annual migration of millions of birds around our planet, containing some of the world’s most biologically diverse and beautiful landscapes. 60% of the world’s wetlands have disappeared in the last 100 years. Without safe places to rest and find food, most of the geese in Europe and many species of waterfowl – including waders and storks – would be unable to survive.

PARQUES VIRTUALES is pioneering the use of new, highly agile communications technologies to make the fragile verdant beauty of wetlands accessible to millions of people across the world, bringing public attention to the vital role these natural spaces play.
